About The Position

Interns are an integral part of our teams, working to solve some of the world's most complex challenges. As a Mechanical Intern (Co-Op), you will work with close guidance and direction on tasks and smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the direction of a Senior Mechanical Engineer. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include Revit design, calculations, and field work. This hands-on experience will equip you with practical skills, build your network, and provide opportunities that set you up for success. Candidates should be highly motivated and dependable students who are taking or have taken mechanical engineering design type courses. This is a terrific opportunity for a college student to develop industry experience with an opportunity for a full-time position upon graduation.

Requirements

  • Proficient in drafting with basic understanding of Revit or other drafting software, and the use of it as a drafting/design tool.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in a multi-disciplinary project team setting.
  • Ability to take direction, follow process, and accept feedback and suggestions from senior engineers.
  • Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite. Prefer experience with Revit.
  • Strong motivation to learn.
  • Currently enrolled in a mechanical engineering or equivalent post-secondary program with the availability for a full-time summer internship is required.
  • Preference for beginning mechanical engineering courses such as Thermodynamics or Statics/Dynamics along with some drafting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Participation in mechanical design of building HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems including calculations and layouts.
  • Production of BIM drawings using Revit.
  • Performs field work (evaluation of existing sites) as directed by senior engineer.
  • Assists with engineering duties on projects of various complexity.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the senior engineering staff.
  • Participates and contributes to intern design project as part of an intern team of different disciplines.
