Requirements

  • Must be in good standing as a student at the bachelor's degree level at an accredited university majoring in Mechanical Engineering or a related major and returning to school full-time after the work session
  • Ability to commute and work onsite at S&C in Rogers Park, Chicago, IL
  • Ability to work full-time (6 months preferred)
  • Strong organization and presentation skills, including ability to prioritize workloads and maintain documentation
  • Ability to think analytically, independently, and outside of the box to provide fresh ideas to improve processes
  • Ability to work with people in a production/plant environment
  • Proficiency in the use of PC using Word, Excel, Visio, Project, and Access
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic bookkeeping skills and ability to read drawings

Responsibilities

  • Design fixturing, mold components, and other tooling
  • Work with drawings and models using SolidEdge/3DX
  • Assist with mold maintenance continuous improvement projects
  • Collect and analyze process data using statistical tools
  • Conduct experiments and write clear, concise engineering test reports describing the procedures, results, analyses, and conclusions
  • Assist with continuous improvement and 5S activities and initiatives
  • Create instruction bulletins or process specification procedures for standard work practices related to manufacturing tooling/processes
  • Run software simulations pertaining to injection molding processes and mold designs
  • Work with process engineering team on capital projects and new product development efforts
