DropletPharma is building two microscale devices that will accelerate radiopharmaceutical discovery and production, transforming health outcomes worldwide. As a mechanical engineering intern on our team, you will be tasked with taking ownership and implementing core improvements to the mechanical and fluidic systems for our two flagship systems. This will be a fully in-person position in Los Angeles, CA (near LAX) for the spring (January to June) with the option to continue through Summer 2026.

  • Designing, implementing, testing, and characterizing mechanical, pneumatic, and fluidic subsystems for our radiopharmaceutical production and discovery systems
  • Generating new solutions to design problems in CAD
  • Building and testing assemblies and prototyping systems, including developing assembly processes
  • Analyzing test assemblies and prototypes to assess their performance with respect to engineering requirements
  • Assisting with the development and maintenance of design documentation (e.g., engineering drawings, BOMs, etc.) as well as manuals and SOPs for operation of prototype systems
  • Designing and performing experiments to evaluate new concepts and designs
  • Troubleshooting and improving designs
  • Developing test instrumentation, tooling, and fixtures
  • Pursuing B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or similar
  • 2+ years of experience with SolidWorks
  • 1+ year of machine shop (CNC Mill, manual tools, and lathe)
  • Assembly of complex systems (mechanical, electromechanical, fluidic, pneumatic)
  • 3D Printing & Rapid prototyping experience
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Automation/test tools in Java, Labview etc.
  • Experience with microcontrollers (e.g. Arduino, ESP32) and programming in C++, MicroPython, etc.
  • Control systems development
  • GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
