This job description reflects potential openings for the Summer 2026 Co-op/Internship Session (May-August). This is a general job description and represents multiple openings in various departments. Honda offers both single and multi-semester co-ops and internships. College students must apply to the requisition pertaining to their major and semester of interest. Here at Honda, we pride ourselves in the invaluable experience we provide our Co-ops and Interns with. Honda Co-ops/ Interns are tasked with hands on, project based worked relevant to their department of placements current needs (this means no coffee runs or stereotypical intern duties). Projects may be as large as developing a new test, designing systems, traveling to suppliers or serving as a project manager! In addition to the full-time associate work that our Co-ops/ Interns are given the access to work on, Honda Co-ops/ Interns are invited to participate in a variety of paid work events and experiences offered by the Honda Co-op and Internship program team. Events include but are not limited to Q&A sessions with high level associates, tours of various Honda facilities, social events, volunteer opportunities and much more!

  • Investigating new technologies and implementing countermeasures

  • Learning and performing vehicle testing
  • Conducting tests for chassis, brakes, controls, bonnet, trunk and/or door systems
  • Testing procedures and fixtures
  • New model development, drawing, layouts and design change requests
  • Investigating and providing countermeasures for mass production design related issues
  • Warranty data trend analysis
  • Re-creating problem failures to determine root cause, develop countermeasures and perform confirmation testing
  • Assessing supplier process capabilities
  • Problem reporting and analysis
  • Implementing countermeasures and verifying effectiveness
  • Investigating suspect part issues and approving part changes
  • Issuing trouble reports
  • Updating and documenting CAD drawings of existing infrastructure
  • Analyzing and designing existing sanitation, HVAC and building pressure systems
  • Developing short and long-term solutions to problems found
  • Designing modifications of existing facilities infrastructures
  • Updating mechanical engineering specifications and standards
  • Reviewing electrical drawings
  • Learning and understanding plant power infrastructure
  • Verifying electrical panel schedules
  • Designing manufacturing equipment and tooling in 2D and 3D CAD systems
  • Determining equipment electrical hardware, software (PLC, HMI, etc.), safety requirements and appropriate design
  • Managing a schedule and tracking daily processes
  • Investigating and troubleshooting problems during installation and manufacturing
  • Supporting the development of vehicle testing and countermeasure analysis
  • Assisting design engineers in developing/designing of future models and supporting the creation of drawings
  • Cost and weight calculations
  • Attending meetings and working with various design/test groups, suppliers, manufacturing groups, etc.
  • General Engineering Coursework
  • Minimum 2.5 Cumulative GPA or higher
  • Class status- Sophomore (by credit hour) or above
  • Availability to work a minimum of 10 weeks at 40 hours per week
  • Enrollment in a bachelor's or master's degree program studying Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License
  • Ability to provide own transportation to and from work each day
