About The Position

This position is located at our DeKalb, IL Facility and reports directly to the department manager within the Machinery department. The role involves designing and optimizing heat sealing machinery, overseeing the fabrication and part sourcing of machines, and creating 3D models, assemblies, and drawings of machinery and components. The employee is expected to troubleshoot machine assembly issues, customer issues, and part deficiencies, as well as design, select, and approve new and substitute components. Additionally, the role includes quoting standard and custom machines, interacting with customers regarding new machine purchases, creating BOMs, and completing cost/margin analysis while proficiently navigating current ERP/vault software. The employee will also support Sales, Marketing, and Parts & Service with necessary machine information and promotions, regularly interact with production, other engineers, and the CNC shop, and complete all tasks in a safety-conscious manner.

Requirements

• 4-year Bachelor (or Masters) degree in related Engineering field
• Prior experience in engineering
• Material science knowledge
• GD&T knowledge
• Proficiency in Solidworks and AutoCAD
• Proficiency in pneumatics and hydraulics preferred
• Electrical/controls knowledge and experience preferred
• Great communication and people skills
• Motivated individual with some leadership qualities
• Safety focus

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize heat sealing machinery – new and existing
• Oversee the fabrication and part sourcing of machines throughout the build
• Create a majority of all 3D models, assemblies, and drawings of machinery and components
• Troubleshoot machine assembly issues, customer issues, and part deficiencies
• Design, select, and/or approve new and substitute components
• Quote standard and custom machines
• Interact and discuss with customers about new machine purchases and options
• Create BOMs and complete cost/margin analysis
• Proficiently navigate current ERP/vault software
• Support Sales, Marketing, and Parts & Service for necessary machine information and promotions
• Regularly interact with production, other engineers, and the CNC shop in a positive manner
• Complete all tasks in a safety-conscious manner
