Our Process Engineering team is growing, and we are now looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join the team and bring their expertise to deliver projects of varying sizes to well-known Food Producers in the US & Canada. In this position, you will be a technical lead, developing and delivering technical solutions to our customers as part of the Pre-projects and Projects team. Our Process Engineering team works with Food Producers in many different categories, from milk and coconut water producers to semi-solid food producers like yoghurt and ice-cream. The position in based in Vernon Hills, IL. You will be travelling 25% of your time to our customer sites. Tetra Pak is not sponsoring work visas or relocation for this position. You must be work authorized in the United States on a full time basis without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Food Science.
  • 3+ years of experience in Food & Beverage Industry for site sanitary piping installations and custom sanitary equipment pre-assembly skid fabrication.
  • CAD 3D modeling skills is a must. Experience with Inventor ideal.
  • Familiarization with Hygienic design, Good Manufacturing Practices, PMO as a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Mechanical Engineering technical expertise and support to the project teams.
  • Guide engineering department in determining the priorities for process and productivity improvements that impact project and business results and champion cost reduction projects.
  • Collaborate with Functional Managers (Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Supply Management, 3rd Party Suppliers) to assist in developing, prioritizing, and executing Tetra Pak's Continuous Improvement strategy.
  • Initiate and drive Continuous Improvement activities to improve mechanical and installation design quality, including environment, people, processes, and equipment.
  • Integrate all manufacturing and process engineering changes into pre-assembly and fabrication standards.
  • Support engineering functions to secure quotes for sold projects.
  • Prepare drawings and material specifications as required by all departments.
  • Prepare reports, charts and other documentation required for engineering records and projects.
  • Perform 3rd party fabricator and customer site inspections for installations and hygienic design standards.
  • Conduct hygienic risk assessment for 3rd party fabrications and site installations.
  • Analyze 3rd party assembly and fabrication data and provide guidelines for design standards.
  • Conduct regular meetings to communicate safety, quality, timing, cost, and design information.
  • Comply with all Health and Safety programs in accordance with OSHA.
  • Participate in ongoing technical discussions with customer and/or end-suppliers.
