About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer at Civil and Environmental Consultants, Inc. in Pittsburgh, PA will be responsible for generating mechanical design calculations, including equipment and pipe sizing, creating piping and instrumentation diagrams, and Block Flow Diagrams. The role involves formulating design criteria for the development of project specifications and drawings, and generating specifications for systems and equipment. The engineer will possess the ability to train and mentor less experienced engineers and designers, coordinating design details and criteria with other disciplines. Additionally, the engineer will generate 3D modeling of pipe routing, ensuring optimal placement and adherence to design specifications. Responsibilities also include creating, verifying, and validating the accuracy of Equipment and Utilities Lists and Bill of Materials, using industrial engineering standards, and ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory guidelines in design and implementation processes. The position requires utilizing Caesar II software to conduct stress analysis calculations along with other analyses in piping structures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Knowledge of Plant3D, Navisworks, Caesar II, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD.
  • Experience in calculating velocity, load, stress, strain, and forces on pipelines.
  • Ability to assess flow rates, pressure drop, and turbulence.
  • Experience analyzing heat exchangers, boilers, and cooling systems.
  • Ability to define stresses on supports and pipes and select proper materials.
