We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer at our site in Plymouth, who wants to shape the future of advanced optics.

Requirements

• HNC/HND or higher in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a mechanical engineering role, preferably within manufacturing or a high-precision environment
• Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks
• Experience managing engineering projects and coordinating across teams
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, and change control processes
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities
• A proactive, flexible, and positive approach to work
• High attention to detail and a methodical mindset
• A commitment to continuous improvement and customer focus

Responsibilities

• Design and develop precision-engineered solutions using SolidWorks and engineering analysis tools
• Read and interpret technical drawings, creating detailed designs and specifications
• Work closely with Process Engineers to ensure designs meet both production and project requirements
• Manage and coordinate engineering projects to ensure on-time delivery of components and systems
• Design and implement tooling and equipment modifications that improve safety, reliability, and throughput
• Collaborate with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to resolve complex design challenges
• Support installation, testing, and commissioning of new or modified equipment
• Prepare accurate costings for tooling and engineering work to support customer quotations
• Deliver internal and external reports, documentation, training, and presentations
• Uphold G&H values and ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards
