About The Position

Cenovus is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support fixed equipment and reliability engineering at our Toledo Refinery. This role provides technical troubleshooting, repair recommendations, and maintenance engineering support for assigned assets, working in accordance with Cenovus Engineering Practices and industry standards. The engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive safe, reliable operations, support routine maintenance and turnaround (TAR) activities. Interested in working in Toledo? Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the US
  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, other Engineering Disciplines as applicable.
  • 4+ years' experience in a refinery or other heavy industrial experience related to fixed equipment.
  • Knowledgeable in relevant ASME, API, and ISO standards and codes

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Maximo, Meridium, AutoCAD considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for health, safety and environmental performance and awareness in the area of responsibility, participates in all refinery safety programs, and investigates accidents, near-misses and RCA (utilizing 5 whys, fault tree analysis and Sologic) as assigned.
  • Primary technical contact for day-to-day maintenance and operational issues related to equipment reliability, unit availability and mechanical integrity for assigned units, working with unit inspector(s) to assess and mitigate mechanical integrity threats, perform fitness-for-service evaluations, and recommend end-of-life strategies.
  • Works with technical Subject Matter Experts to develop reliability strategies for all asset classes and supports bad actors and other significant reliability efforts, influencing the asset team to drive reliability actions to closure.
  • Develops and identifies TAR scope for assigned units and provides assurance of reliability-related scope into the TAR worklist, including replace vs. repair analysis to prevent unplanned production loss.
  • Participates in unit HAZOPs, MOCs and Vulnerability Reviews, applies basic risk assessment and risk management principles, and provides reliability input to projects to assure integration into existing reliability processes.
  • Responsible for design, review and approval of temporary repairs, development of Engineering Packages for Approval (IFA) and Construction (IFC), and maintaining asset data including PSV records, test frequency data, and spare parts listings in MAXIMO.
