About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for our industrial machinery, including the maintenance, development, and improvement of all aspects of the company’s robotics, foaming and milling production lines, and air compressors. With human safety and product quality as the underlying ethos, success measures will be tied to machine uptime and factory throughput. This teammate will work closely with the Production and R&D teams to support executive decision-making for company goals affected by industrial machinery. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise as well as innovative and design-thinking capabilities that foster a team mindset of continuous improvement. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering field
  • 4+ years of experience in lean manufacturing with industrial robotics
  • Demonstrable competencies with CAD/CAM (e.g. Solidworks)
  • Hands on experience with machine development, fabrication, assembly, & integration
  • Effective written and verbal skills
  • Demonstrable proficiency with common office software tools (Google Workspace, Agentic AI, etc.)
  • Willingness and ability to work in the factory each day and to travel when necessary

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering field
  • Robotics integration experience
  • Materials science experience with polymers, PU foams, and alloys
  • Lean Six Sigma black belt
  • Experience with robotic extrusion and robotic milling functions
  • Custom fabrication in a production environment

Responsibilities

  • Champion safety, quality, asset management, and process line performance.
  • Implement preventative maintenance procedures and means for data-driven tracking of PM program success.
  • Develop efficient processes for managing extruder tooling, tool crib, and critical spares.
  • Monitor & implement all aspects of plant machinery safety systems.
  • Learn, master, and improve all equipment and techniques used in the C-Fab® process.
  • Lead design and development of custom fixturing for production processes as needed.
  • Develop strategic relationships with suppliers of hardware and tooling components.
  • Create accurate BOMs and production system control documents.
  • Work with the Production team to improve robot operator experience.
  • Participate in KPI definition and reporting.
