The Role We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join our Kinetics Group. The ideal candidate should possess a degree in Mechanical Engineering, have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and exhibit a passion for machinery design and analysis. In this role, you will contribute to the technical assessment of a wide variety of systems ranging from large operable elements for sports and industrial facilities to small intricate mechanisms for art installations. A successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop their skills under the mentorship of a team of licensed engineers. This position requires a strong understanding of engineering principles. Applicants should have excellent communication skills and the determination to continuously learn and grow.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • Strong interest in machinery design and analysis.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software, preferably Inventor or Solidworks.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to travel for field work and observations.

Responsibilities

  • Machinery Analysis and Design : Collaborate with the engineering team to contribute to the analysis and design of mechanical systems, ensuring they meet performance and safety standards.
  • Technical Writing : Utilize technical writing skills to effectively communicate analysis results and recommendations. Prepare clear and concise reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • CAD Software Proficiency: Utilize 2D and 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks, to create mechanical designs. Ensure accuracy and efficiency in translating concepts into detailed engineering drawings.
  • Critical Thinking: Demonstrate the ability to think critically and methodically when evaluating mechanical systems. Attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot is crucial when identifying and resolving potential issues.
  • Field Work and Observation: Occasionally travel to perform field work, conduct on-site assessments, and gather data for analysis. This may involve working in various environments to assess the performance of machinery and systems.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the senior engineering team to research applicable industry codes and standards, review project documentation, and prepare presentations, field notes, and technical reports to support forensics findings.
