The Mechanical Engineer will design and guide the development and integration of Environmental Control, Interior Lighting, and Cargo Smoke Detection systems for BETA’s CX300 and A250 aircraft. This engineer will leverage experience and engineering best practices to develop system components. Their skills and experiences will shape design decisions from early-stage concepts through sustainment and field maintenance. They’ll directly contribute to system certification by proposing verification methods for means of compliance, and by working in conjunction with Test Engineers to draft, execute, and report results. The ideal candidate is highly collaborative, detail-oriented, and focused. This role will primarily collaborate with Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Stress, and Quality teams during development, as well as Systems, Safety, Program Management and Certification.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience.
  • Proficiency using 3D CAD software to support the integration of aircraft systems.
  • Demonstrated experience designing Environmental Control Systems on FAA projects.
  • Ability to define and negotiate system functional, interface, and performance requirements.
  • Experience working in production environments, supporting integration & troubleshooting.
  • Communication and leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Designs with consideration of Pilot / Occupant needs in both normal operation and emergency conditions for; Environmental Control, Interior Lighting, and Cargo Smoke Detection systems.
  • Strong understanding of New Product Introduction with exposure to requirements development.
  • Ability to interpret FAA regulations and design ensuring compliance to the accepted means.
  • Experience drafting and executing Qualification & Functional Test Planning.
  • Knowledge of performance-based certification processes, and deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Propose design architecture and component selection of simple and complex cabin systems.
  • Develop, build, and iterate through prototypes to inform type-design.
  • Maintain 2D & 3D Datasets in a controlled PLM Environment using Catia V6.
  • Conduct DfM analyses to minimize cost and improve manufacturability.
  • Track and report design status to maintain program awareness.
  • Create certification deliverables such as Functional and Qualification Test Plans.
