Chemours is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Monomer Manufacturing Technology team. This position will be available at the Washington Works site and report directly to the Monomer Mfg. Technology Manager . The Mechanical Engineer will work as part of a team to support day-to-day operations of a manufacturing unit, while also participating and leading improvement efforts.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
  • Experience with industrial mechanical equipment
  • Exposure to problem-solving methods
  • Meaningful values on safety awareness, implementation, and improvement
  • Proficient in typical business software such as Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Thorough communication skills, verbal and written.
  • 6 months of prior internship or co-op experience

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience (all experience levels encouraged to apply)
  • Experience with high hazard chemical manufacturing
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, such as:
  • Pressure vessels, agitators, extruders
  • Pumps, critical piping, valving
  • Storage tanks, heat exchangers
  • Compressors, blowers, industrial refrigeration

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving mechanical equipment issues to support and improve efficiency of the manufacturing facilities
  • Daily monitoring of mechanical equipment performance in the facility
  • Work with plant operational teams to facilitate continuous improvement efforts related to mechanical equipment & systems performance
  • Implementation of detailed projects covering mechanical aspects of manufacturing equipment/systems
  • Participate in project teams and activities related to day-to-day mechanical technical support
  • Design and development of operations/maintenance protocols, processing equipment installations and plant upgrades related to mechanical installations
  • To conduct field assessments and audits on mechanical equipment
  • Maintain and improve the Mechanical Integrity of area equipment
