With a dynamic and growing in-house design/build group and over 20 years of commercial design experience, Commercial Express is known for delivering turnkey, energy-efficient HVAC solutions. We are seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineer to join our team. Position Summary As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in advancing Commercial Express’ customer-focused vision and reinforcing our reputation as industry experts. This position works closely with engineers, sales executives, and service teams to develop high-quality, cost-effective HVAC solutions for commercial clients. The ideal candidate has 4+ years of HVAC-related experience and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of HVAC-related experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Professional, positive demeanor with a customer-focused mindset.
  • Basic knowledge of applicable mechanical and energy codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications, architectural drawings, and mechanical plans.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Revit.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
  • Experience with HVAC load calculation software such as Carrier HAP.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering site surveys and assessments of building mechanical systems (must be willing to access ceilings, climb ladders, access rooftops, etc.).
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, general contractors, property managers, and tenants to evaluate needs and develop solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and design support to sales executives and service department staff.
  • Develop engineering cost estimates and construction budgets.
  • Prepare detailed project proposals and scope-of-work documents for customer review and internal construction reference.
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations for new and existing commercial spaces.
  • Create mechanical design drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit suitable for permitting and construction.
  • Select HVAC equipment to meet performance, efficiency, and end-user requirements.
  • Perform ventilation calculations and conduct design code reviews in accordance with the International Mechanical Code (IMC) and ASHRAE standards.
  • Prepare and submit permit documents to applicable authorities having jurisdiction.
