About The Position

Pentair is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to aggressively support Sustaining engineering projects from concept to release. Sustaining Engineering is responsible for maintenance of existing designs as well as evaluation of proposed changes to original design intent through our engineering change process. The Sustaining Engineering team focuses on projects to maintain the current Pentair product offering with initiatives related to quality issues and redesign. To be successful, a Sustaining engineer at Pentair will need to integrate with all other team functions – operations, supply chain, marketing, sales, and quality and have an understanding of the entire business. Attention to detail is critical. They must be able to drive projects to completion that meet/exceed customer specifications, operational, quality and supply chain requirements as well as cost targets and delivery. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution, Mechanical with some Electrical preferred
  • 3+ years experience as an engineer doing product or process changes or design, preferably in a sustaining role
  • 3+ years experience using solid modeling CAD design tools (Solidworks preferred)
  • Experience in leading engineering based projects
  • Strong problem solving mindset and understanding of RCCM methodology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of plastic, injection molding and sheet metal processes including material properties and part design.
  • Familiar with PPAP’s , DVP&R’s, DFMEA’s, PFMEA’s and GD&T
  • Experience with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems, BOM structuring, and ECO processes

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on prototyping and testing capabilities beneficial
  • Experience in high volume lean manufacturing environment
  • Regulatory agency experience/knowledge (UL, CE, NSF) preferred
  • Hands-on experience with pool equipment systems a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with field sales, tech support, and customers to identify pain points and translate that VOC into engineering design specifications and solutions
  • Identify and execute sustaining engineering opportunities on existing products by improving quality, enhancing features/performance, or reducing cost
  • Lead or assist in projects from concept to release with strong sense of urgency, utilizing company product release and engineering change processes
  • Lead or assist in the responsibilities for all aspects of the design including FEA, CAD, specifications, agency requirements, tolerance analysis, DFMEA/PFMEA, stress and fatigue analysis
  • Create and maintain accurate complete drawing package, costed BOM & product specifications
  • Coordinate the purchase of production or prototype hardware and software for testing
  • Plan, perform and document validation testing for all stages of projects
