About The Position

Position Summary Odyssey Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Mechanical Engineer supporting the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Armament Directorate (AFLCMC/EB). This role provides senior-level acquisition and program management advisory support for ACAT I, II, and III programs in accordance with DoD and Department of the Air Force acquisition policy. This is a full-time onsite position at Hill AFB, UT. Responsibilities Duties include, but not limited to: Apply specialized knowledge and mastery of advanced engineering theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods to ensure assigned projects remain consistent with program objectives, costs, schedules, performance criteria, and existing policies. Advise in the science and practice of aeronautics involving airborne vehicles traversing the earth’s atmosphere and space flight, along with assisting in developing and applying the means of testing, evaluation, life prediction, and standardization of materials and their properties for use in engineering designs and projects. Assist in the generation and interpretation of technical data such as 2D drawings and 3D models. Perform mechanical/aerospace/materials engineering work involving in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes to the acquisition, development, and sustainment of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment. Assist with planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating significant and complex projects involving the science of mechanical engineering to include: Statics Dynamics Tribology Mechanical wear Fatigue Corrosion Fluid dynamics Thermodynamics Heat transfer

Requirements

  • Must have an Active Secret Clearance
  • Masters of Science in a relevant discipline and recognized at national level in a relevant technical field, specialized engineering, or technology area from an ABET-accredited institution
  • 25 years relevant experience and must be published in the area of expertise and have taught formally in the area such as conference or symposium
  • Ability to apply advanced engineering theories, principles, standards, and methods to meet program cost, schedule, performance, and policy objectives
  • Proven experience in aeronautics and space flight engineering, including testing, evaluation, life prediction, and materials standardization
  • Ability to interpret and generate technical data, including 2D drawings and 3D models
  • Proven experience in mechanical, aerospace, and materials engineering supporting weapon systems and support equipment
  • Solid understanding of mechanical engineering sciences: statics, dynamics, tribology, wear, fatigue, corrosion, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer
  • Ability to advise on complex engineering science and practice
  • Proven experience to plan, organize, and coordinate significant engineering projects
  • Ability to communicate technical analyses and engineering data clearly across the organization
  • Strong ability to collaborate across complex engineering efforts
