Overhead Doors is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to help us meet our goals for 2025 and beyond. The Mechanical Engineer will perform engineering duties in planning and designing residential/commercial garage doors, hardware components, and other infrastructure. This role works collaboratively with internal and external customers, industry and building products experts, and other resources to develop these products and processes for the organization. We are committed to innovation, and the Mechanical Engineer will be at the forefront of this exciting work.

Requirements

  • Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
  • Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study: Mechanical Engineering

Nice To Haves

  • 2-5 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in Inventor, AutoCAD, MS Office, and Adobe applications
  • Experience in Engineering Documentation Revisions (Drawings, BOM"s, Manuals)

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
  • Troubleshoot defects to determine root cause failures and implement innovative product, process, and equipment countermeasures.
  • Conduct research that tests or analyzes the feasibility, design, operation, or performance of products, equipment, components, or systems.
  • Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications, and necessity of modification.
  • Estimate component, capital, and manufacturing costs for product designs.
  • Design Documentation – Modeling; Drawings; Mfg.; Bill of Materials; QC Forms; Operator's, Maintenance, Parts, Etc. Manuals (Detail Oriented).
