About The Position

Wieland is hiring a Mechanical Engineer. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design, deployment and maintenance of a broad range of mechanical, hydraulic and mechanical systems in a complex manufacturing operation. Manages capital and major maintenance projects. Familiar with a variety of the mechanical engineering and maintenance concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. This role is located in East Alton, IL and will be fully on-site.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering with experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with hydraulic and fluid systems troubleshooting skills.
• Familiar with maintenance of industrial machinery and equipment.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage projects from concept to completion, including: maintaining control of project expenditures to avoid cost overruns; supervision of contractors and vendors; and maintain control of project schedule.
• Conducts field investigations and prepares reports for problems, issues and resolutions.
• Establishes and enforces performance levels and expectations in project plans and confirms conformance to project plans and specifications.
• Assists in the troubleshooting process to assure identification and resolution of mechanical and hydraulic issues to maintain productivity, product quality and minimizing equipment downtime.
• Supports and encourages employee involvement in continuous improvement activities including Safety Excellence, Lean Manufacturing, TPM and Maintenance Excellence activities.
• Experience developing detailed and thorough scope of work for projects.
• Keep abreast of engineering and manufacturing technological developments for the purpose of assisting management in formulating strategies for meeting business objectives.
• Provide technical advice to the organization in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes for assigned areas of responsibilities.
