About The Position

This position is focused on the mechanical design, development, and manufacturing of stationary and mobile antenna systems and related equipment.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering and product design and development desired, but not mandatory
  • Knowledge in the areas of materials, structural and thermal analysis, dynamics, vibration and mechanical shock, heat transfer, and finite element analysis
  • Solid model design, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and detailed drawing experience, preferably using Creo or similar CAD software
  • Technically proficient in MS Office products
  • Must have excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in written form
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively work with ThinKom personnel as well as suppliers and customers
  • Ability to effectively present information in team meetings and design reviews
  • Must be eligible to obtain and hold a US DoD Security Clearance in support of US Government contracts/ subcontracts
  • Follow ThinKom corporate policies and design procedures
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • This position uses a computer terminal to access, input, and retrieve data
  • This position may be subject to interruptions that may cause a change in immediate priorities and/or work focus
  • While performing duties of this position, employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, and/or bend
  • May occasionally lift and/or move files or boxes up to 50 pounds
  • May be subjected to occasional irregular or extended work hours
  • May be required to sit for extended lengths of time
  • Must be able to work in an environment that may be subjected to occasional loud noises, hazardous materials, chemicals and, electromagnetic energy

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of metal fabrication techniques such as machining, sheet metal, and forming, along with some experience with injection molded plastics and cast metal part design preferred, but not mandatory

Responsibilities

  • Works as part of an integrated product team under the direction of a lead Mechanical Engineer and Program Manager
  • Provide effective design support during the conceptual and detailed design phases of a product development program
  • Perform hands-on design and analysis
  • Prepare and present design and analysis material during internal and customer design reviews
  • Prepare detailed product manufacturing documentation such as test procedures and assembly instructions
  • Support component and antenna system level environmental testing
  • Interface with ThinKom production personnel and outside suppliers during the manufacturing phase of programs
  • Support business development activities by providing input for proposals
