The primary function of the Mechanical Engineer (2nd Shift) is to safely perform tests and report testing evaluations and assist with projects including quality, investigations, and process improvement. Requirements

  • Engineering degree
  • Laboratory experience, preferred
  • Good interpretive/ investigation skills; ability to problem solve
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, customer testing specifications, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, data and details furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • lifting <50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time.
  • Experience in interpreting testing procedures and requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel)
  • Availability, flexibility, and maturity to represent the company at a broad range of events/projects in the community, with customers and within the company.
  • Ability to remain calm when faced with mounting pressure related to deadlines and multiple priorities.
  • Well developed oral and written communication skills to meet a variety of communication needs.
  • Good interpersonal skills that foster open upward and downward communication built on mutual respect.
  • Ability to interface with clients, determine their requirements; helps develops proposals including cost estimates, work plan and terms and conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and operate all equipment necessary to perform testing in the Mechanical Lab
  • Performs daily verifications and adjusts equipment baselines accordingly
  • Performs RTT/ETT tests, Charpy impacts, Fracture Toughness, Hardness, Stress/Creep Rupture, Full size Fastener testing, Pressure testing
  • Maintains mechanical testing equipment for operation and performs routine housekeeping tasks associated with the area(s) trouble shooting as necessary.
  • Insures that ample supplies are available for operation of mechanical testing area
  • Interface with clients on matters of concern/interest
  • Other duties as required
