About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer designs and integrates mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and structural systems to create safe, durable, and compliant platforms for transporting watercraft. This role focuses on functional design, precise fit and finish, robust component development, and adherence to applicable regulatory standards. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and hands-on knowledge of structural steel and aluminum design and fabrication. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and production teams to deliver designs that meet performance requirements and support efficient fabrication and assembly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3+ years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experienced with 3D modeling, preferably Solidworks.
  • Familiar with drawing dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Familiar with manufacturing fabrication process such as metal forming, cutting, and welding of structural steel and aluminum.
  • Ability to read and write and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Develops objectives and general policies and procedures for a specific program or functional area of responsibility with general scope of established operational goals and plans.
  • Day-to-day work decisions do not require direction or review by immediate supervisor.
  • End results are reviewed by supervisor.
  • Must be willing to learn and practice continuous improvement techniques such as the 5S.
  • Able to participate and lead in a team-oriented environment, willingness to assist and train others.
  • Demonstrate safe behavior and support department/plant Safety goals in a continuous improvement process.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including overtime, weekends before and after schedule as needed.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

  • ERP data management experience is a plus.
  • FEA experience is a plus.
  • Experience in an automotive setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical, structural, electrical, and hydraulic systems for watercraft transport platforms
  • Create and maintain detailed 3D models, drawings, and specifications with accurate fit, finish, and tolerances
  • Apply sound engineering principles to ensure structural integrity, durability, and safety of all designs
  • Design components and assemblies using structural steel and aluminum, considering fabrication and welding processes
  • Support prototype builds, testing, validation, and continuous product improvement efforts
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable regulatory, safety, and industry standards
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to optimize designs for cost, quality, and manufacturability
  • Assist with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and field issue resolution
  • Provide engineering support to production, quality, and service teams as needed
  • Maintain organized documentation and engineering change records
