About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer will support new technology development at the Alcoa Technical Center (ATC) in New Kensington, PA. This role focuses on industrial equipment design, troubleshooting, and hands-on problem‑solving within a fast‑paced R&D environment. The engineer will contribute to the development and implementation of breakthrough technologies by collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and provide innovative mechanical solutions. Providing day-to-day technical advice, creating designs with designers and technicians and interact with other specialists and scientists in a collaborative environment to reach program goals. Initiating and/or implementing improvement projects including engineering solutions to improve designs, improve operability and safety and reduce cost of components and complexity. Managing capital and expense project requests, schedules, costs, etc. Able to interact with fabricators and suppliers to ensure products delivered are what is expected for the application. Ensuring compliance with project work with appropriate engineering and industry standards. Identifying and implementing new insights while gaining team consensus. Able to shift focus and solve problems under pressure. Craft, maintain, and update drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • 3–5 years of experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred
  • On track to become a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or currently licensed
  • Demonstrated ability to manage new and ongoing engineering projects effectively
  • Excellent digital literacy with the ability to quickly learn new software and systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required
  • Demonstrates a strong results‑oriented focus, consistently driving tasks and projects to successful and timely completion
  • Proven ability to adapt and be resourceful in the face of challenges
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to travel up to 15%
