Mercury Systems is seeking a hard-working, innovative mechanical engineer, who thrives in fast paced environments and brings a fresh perspective to complex design challenges. This hands-on role involves designing, analyzing, and testing advanced PCB assemblies, with a focus on thermal management using cutting-edge technologies.

  • Design electronic module assembly design based on open standards
  • Develop mechanical packaging, printed wiring board layout and ECAD support (e.g. connector selection, labeling, cable design, prototype inspection, environmental testing, and documentation for procurement and assembly)
  • Collaborate daily with cross-functional teams including Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Procurement
  • Drive products from concept through integration, testing, and production release
  • Design, analyze, and document mechanical hardware and systems for rugged military applications
  • Design complex fixturing to support testing and advanced manufacturing techniques
  • Develop detailed 3D models and drawings using SolidWorks
  • Communicate design concepts and documentation to internal and external stakeholders
  • Support product verification testing (thermal, airflow, vibration, shock, humidity, and environmental stress screening)
  • Manage procurement of prototype materials to verify form, fit, and function
  • Conduct failure analysis of discrepant materials in coordination with manufacturing and application engineering
  • Draft test plans and inspection reports for verification and validation
  • Structure Bills of Materials (BOMs/PLs)
  • Draft and manage Engineering Change Requests (ECRs/ECOs)
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Typically requires a minimum of 2 -4 years of relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of heat transfer and thermal management principles
  • Familiarity with conventional and advanced manufacturing techniques, including additive manufacturing
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks)
  • Experience with material control processes and documentation (e.g., routers, work instructions) and related tools (Agile, Oracle, EPDM)
  • Skilled in standard documentation and presentation tools
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain a government security clearance
  • Experience with Printed Wiring Board Assembly (PWBA) design and processes
  • Familiarity with ANSI/VITA standards (e.g., 46.0, 48.x, 66.x, 67.x)
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks and PDM tools
  • Experience with thermal analysis tools (e.g., FloTherm, 6Sigma, SC Stream, SC Flow)
  • Experience with structural analysis tools (e.g., SolidWorks Simulation, Femap/NASTRAN)
  • Background in test execution and documentation (e.g., plans, procedures, reports)
  • We are committed to lifelong learning, offering comprehensive skills training and tuition reimbursement.
