About The Position

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work to design, analyze, and test complex mechanical and robotic systems. You will work with engineering, product management, manufacturing, and customers to create automated machinery solutions. From concept to overseeing production, you'll be responsible for bringing automation to life. You will develop and publish new standardized processes and procedures that affect our engineering organization. Your robust machinery designs will help customers improve their production output in the component manufacturer industry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
  • 8+ years of related engineering experience required
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute on a year for year basis
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks highly preferred
  • Proficiency in pneumatic, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical systems
  • Proficiency in machining and welding symbols with experience in GD&T analysis
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to rapidly diagnose and troubleshoot automated systems
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and deadlines
  • Strong planning, organizational, and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication skills to interact frequently with stake holders

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, evaluate and support automated industrial machinery products with focus on the Component Manufacturing (CM) and off-site construction industry.
  • Lead team members through the planning, development, and deployment of complex mechanical architectures with a high level of integrated automation.
  • Generate mechanical project execution artifacts of small to large scale deployments (i.e. cost estimates, schedules, resource needs, risks, forecasts, status, etc.)
  • Participate in the staged-gating process (i.e. requirements reviews, design reviews, test readiness reviews, verification reviews, etc.)
  • Conduct troubleshooting, root cause and corrective actions.
  • Design, integrate, and test mechanical parts and assemblies using industry best practices.
  • Design, integrate, and test industrial pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Design, integrate, and test industrial electro-mechanical and robotic systems.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation (i.e. system requirements, engineering drawings, equipment manuals, test plans, project notes, etc.).
  • Develop and publish new standardized processes and procedures that affect engineering organization.
  • Ensure compliance with MiTek engineering procedures, guidelines, industry standards, and governmental regulations applicable to industrial machinery.
  • Perform engineering analysis and calculations where applicable (including FEA analysis).
  • Enter new or update existing data in MRP/ERP system.
  • Support Manufacturing, Marketing & Sales, Purchasing, Installation, and Customer Service Organizations throughout a product's lifecycle.
  • Review/stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers and technicians
