About The Position

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead the mechanical engineering function in our medium voltage switchgear division. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical knowledge of switchgear design, a passion for mentoring engineers, and a strong understanding of industry standards and requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field required
  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical design of medium voltage switchgear is required
  • Proficient in interpreting and working from single line and three-line diagrams required
  • Proven understanding of electrical clearance requirements at various voltage levels required
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written required
  • Background in manufacturing or industrial environments required

Nice To Haves

  • Strong expertise in 3D CAD tools: AutoCAD and SolidWorks experience preferred
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements (ANSI, ASME, NEC, UL) preferred
  • Prior leadership or team management experience is highly preferred
  • Experience in Lean/Six sigma preferred
  • Experience with design for manufacturability and cost optimization preferred
  • Exposure to switchgear testing and validation processes preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop engineering talent preferred
  • Prior leadership or team management experience is highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the mechanical engineering team in the design and development of medium voltage switchgear products.
  • Translate single-line and three-line electrical drawings into mechanical layouts, including 3D renderings and detailed side views.
  • Ensure all mechanical designs meet clearance requirements and functional specifications across various voltage levels.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical engineering, manufacturing, and product management teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards including ANSI, ASME, NEC, and UL.
  • Drive continuous improvement in mechanical design processes, tools, and documentation.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and technical excellence.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical oversight throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Maintain responsibility of Engineering schedule and KPI's
