As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll leverage your strong foundation in physics, mathematics, and materials science to process and resolve mechanical problems, design and implement custom mechanical tooling and associated processes, and enable the handling, assembly, and disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle. You'll be responsible for designing, developing, and modifying mechanical engineering layouts, schematics, and specifications. You will oversee manufacturing and installation processes, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations-- and you'll coordinate the procurement and assembly of mechanical components and equipment for design projects, identifying sources of critical parts and subsystems to resolve technical issues.

Requirements

  • BS in ME or the relevant field and 2yrs+ in the industry in mechanical designing
  • Engineering skills and Problem-Solving skills
  • CAE experience in mechanical and thermal simulation is required
  • Fluent in 3D CAD software, ideally Siemens NX, to design and draw equipment-related parts, modules, and assemblies per ASME Y14.5M standard.
  • Fluent in Ansys CAE softwares in mechanical/thermal, dynamic/static analysis.
  • Familiarity with design for function, reliability, serviceability, manufacturability, and cosmetic requirements.
  • Solid hands-on ability to integrate, debug/troubleshoot, and demonstrate robust solutions in an engineering lab environment.
  • Interpersonal skills: Fluent in daily English conversation
  • Fluent in technical communication with data, models, and ideas
  • Fluent in technical reporting and documentation
  • Mindset: Have an open mind to listen to other people's opinions to improve the ideas, plans, designs, etc.
  • Have vital learning agility and curiosity to learn new concepts, ideas, and subjects through working and self-learning, especially outside of the person's background.

Responsibilities

  • simulating and analyzing waveguide and waveguide stack mechanical and thermal model
  • collaborating with backend engineers, characterizing the experimental result and comparing to the simulation
  • providing insight of the simulation/experiment to the backend team for the performance improvement, with minimum mechanical engineering guidance
  • following all the safety protocols in day-to-day activities
  • communicating technical ideas and concepts to other mechanical engineering people and non-mechanical engineers
  • Interface with internal and external customers to understand issues to solve
  • Design/model mechanical modules and components, such as waveguide, cover glasses, and waveguide stack
  • Set up the CAE model, perform the analysis and interpret the data
  • Perform experiment to correlate the analysis to the test
  • Calibrate the model
  • Guide or provide the technical insight from the analysis for performance improvement
  • Document the analysis result, present it to internal/external customers, align the direction with them
  • Generate drawings per internal and relevant industrial standards
