Based on a survey conducted with 3,258 Cirkul Customers What is this role? In this role, you will develop and scale-up new consumer products along with enhancing and improving existing products. An understanding of OnShape (or Solidworks), verification methods, and various manufacturing methods are crucial. Much of this work will draw on your understanding of fluidics, plastic part design, manufacturing, and validation methods. This is a hands-on role. You get to build, test, and watch the things you worked on roll off the assembly line. We are a small team: the ability to value input, have a strong commitment to the details, and contribute to the group is important.

Requirements

  • B.S. Mechanical Engineering with 1-5 years engineering experience
  • Minimum 1 year of developing consumer products
  • Experience with full product life cycle
  • Parametric modeling (Solidworks / OnShape)
  • Working knowledge of fluidics and mechanical seal design
  • Able to conduct lab studies for proof-of-concept prototypes and production part qualification.
  • Skilled in hands on design of plastic parts, design for assembly, and part tolerancing
  • Understanding of various measurement methods and quality controls.
  • Values working on a team.
  • Travel 10% (domestic and overseas)

Responsibilities

  • Develop new products and product improvements.
  • Validate design feasibility through prototypes.
  • Create robust CAD models and drawings, perform root cause analysis, and implement solutions in real time at partner vendors to transition products from design to mass manufacturing.
  • Define and contribute to product requirements.
  • Verify and track that designs and released product are meeting requirements.
  • Initiate specifications, change orders, and other documents.
  • Evaluate designs for suitability for mass manufacturing.
  • Perform design for manufacturing analysis to ensure cost effective products.
  • Set tolerances that are appropriate for both product function and manufacturing method.
  • Communication clearly (written and verbal) to overseas manufacturers, the engineering team, and cross functional team members.
  • Take constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with both engineers and non-engineers.
  • Contribute to brainstorming while supporting and building off of others’ ideas.
  • Support design decisions with data collected through prototypes, product testing, engineering statistics, and dimensional analysis.
  • Perform hands-on prototype builds and develop novel test methods and fixtures.
  • Testing may range from fluidics to product function, durability, and dimensional stability.
  • Keep the end-user experience at the center of every design.
  • Support critical supplier issues and internal manufacturing continuous improvement initiatives.
