We have an exciting opportunity for a talented Mechanical Engineer —passionate about mechanical systems design—to join our Minneapolis, MN Mechanical team. You will contribute to a wide range of project types across the country, working with a nationally recognized, multidisciplinary team. Our portfolio includes the design of healthcare facilities, corporate headquarters, laboratories, museums, government buildings (local, state, and federal), higher education campuses, and infrastructure improvements. With building codes and technologies evolving rapidly, we're seeking professionals with expert knowledge of applicable codes and regulations, strong understanding of standard engineering practices, techniques, and procedures, advanced problem-solving skills, proficiency with Revit/BIM, and a collaborative mindset to work closely with internal and external clients to develop and deliver innovative design solutions.

  • Be responsible for HVAC engineering design including calculating heating and cooling loads, selecting equipment, layout duct and piping, creating and editing project details, and being familiar with engineering specifications.
  • Have responsibility for plumbing systems design including calculating capacities and loads, laying out piping systems and details, and editing project specifications.
  • Participate in design review meetings and workshops.
  • Resolve a variety of complex design challenges including conflicting Owner and project requirements, application of different system types, or challenging field conditions.
  • Research design options and document findings for the project team.
  • Assure drawings and designs are in accordance with applicable codes and design standards.
  • Coordinate with architectural and engineering disciplines as applicable.
  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
  • 2+ years of consulting engineering experience with emphasis on HVAC and plumbing systems design for healthcare, laboratory, commercial, municipal, institutional and government facilities and higher education facilities.
  • Revit, BIM, Trane/Trace, IES VE Title-24 2022 1.1, Energy Pro 9.3, CBECC 2022 3.1, and Microsoft Office skills required.
  • Professional Engineer registration a plus.
  • Knowledge in building control systems desired.
