Crane Aerospace & Electronics is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III to join our team in Elyria, OH. This role is pivotal in managing proposals, projects, and investigations while working under the guidance of a supervising manager. The Mechanical Engineer III will operate within cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and business development, to achieve overall program objectives. The successful candidate will apply strong program management skills to maintain control of project and product costs and schedules, ensuring that all department, project, and customer requirements are met, including customer satisfaction, cost, quality, and delivery. In this position, the Mechanical Engineer III will be responsible for estimating and maintaining effective control of project costs and schedules. They will work collaboratively with all functional groups and suppliers to achieve product performance and cost targets. The role involves defining and managing technical and program requirements, including the generation and flow-down of subsystem specifications and requirements. The engineer will maintain technical liaison with customers, suppliers, contractors, and other functional groups through effective teamwork and communication. Additionally, they will prepare technical reports and documentation necessary to satisfy customer and program requirements, including proposals, procedures, reports, and correspondence. The Mechanical Engineer III will also provide instruction, guidance, oversight, and support to other personnel and disciplines supporting program objectives. This includes maintaining accurate program accounting through effective utilization of project records and data management. The engineer will identify, lead, and support process definition and improvement efforts through participation in Kaizen events or similar assignments. As the primary agent for product design, the engineer will ensure that all design and analysis activities are complete, accurate, and meet program requirements, covering aspects such as product architecture, performance modeling, analysis, reliability, materials, and safety. They will create, review, and approve product drawings and design documentation in accordance with company procedures and support the Material Review Board in assessing non-conforming hardware and material.
