The job purpose is to define and develop products used in electric motor and drive systems, involving multiple project responsibilities from motor specification to manufacturing implementation.

  • Perform Engineering tasks in the development of new product.
  • Participate in the development of product specification and conceptual designs.
  • Analyze designs through methods including simulation, tolerance analysis, statistical analysis, cost optimization, and risk assessment.
  • Guide development process to produce practical designs through DFM principles and manufacturing process development.
  • Qualify product designs through test development, data analysis, and experimental design.
  • Identify and design to applicable performance and safety standards.
  • Create and review detailed design drawings and work instructions.
  • Lead product development projects as required.
  • Track, measure, and organize data corresponding to prototype and pilot builds.
  • Provide periodic oral and written reports of project status.
  • Manage project to meet schedules, including communicating with internal team members, customers, suppliers, and outside agencies to aid in spec development, product design, and qualification efforts.
  • Work with other team members to ensure satisfactory completion of all steps in the development process.
  • Identify and communicate threats to schedule to appropriate management.
  • Conduct design reviews, safety reviews, etc.
  • Direct and perform standard product support activities such as analyzing and writing Engineering Change Orders for products.
  • Troubleshoot product problems in manufacturing, lab, or customer sites.
  • Initiate corrective action activities.
  • Learn, participate in the development, and apply knowledge of operational systems, Graco and industry design standards, Graco Quality Management System, and emerging trends in our customers' markets.
  • BS degree in engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent as approved by the divisional engineering management group.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent engineering/technical aptitude.
  • Minimum of 1.5 years' experience in new product development with demonstrated ability to independently produce innovative and successful designs.
