About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer position at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center (PIMC) involves providing expert advisory services for mechanical and utility systems within the hospital and its adjacent buildings. The role includes reviewing contractor plans, performing energy use analyses, and serving as a technical expert for various engineering systems. The engineer will also be responsible for policy development and training within the engineering department, ensuring compliance with established requirements and providing guidance to management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent education and experience.
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in mechanical engineering.
• Current Contracting Officer Representative (COR) Level II certification.

Nice To Haves

• Professional registration or licensure as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or Professional Engineer (PE).
• Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous advisory services for mechanical and utility systems to the Director of Engineering Services.
• Perform and document code reviews, risk assessments, cost assessments, and life-cycle planning for major building systems.
• Conduct HVAC engineering design as requested by the Director of Engineering Services.
• Provide expert advice on purchasing equipment for facility mechanical systems.
• Perform energy and life cycle-costs analysis of mechanical systems and equipment.
• Act as a Contracting Officer Representative (COR) on design and service contracts/projects.
• Assist in engineering department policy development and maintenance.
• Guide managers on comprehensive management policies and procedures.
