Carrier Processing Equipment Group (CPEG) offers customers a comprehensive line of large industrial processing equipment for a wide variety of industries. By combining engineering expertise including high tolerance fabrication and assembly, we design and manufacture custom bulk processing equipment solutions. We are looking for a full-time Mechanical Engineer at our Tonawanda, NY location. This is an onsite, entry to mid-level position that works closely with experienced staff members across the organization, providing design and engineering support throughout the product development process. The Mechanical Engineer has a general knowledge of mechanical engineering calculations and the ability to apply this knowledge to validate design solutions and in general problem-solving situations.

  • Complete supporting engineering calculations and validations required to ensure sound product design using hand calculations and specialized software packages.
  • Work with product designers, suppliers, and customers to provide innovative design solutions to project requirements that exceed standard/established design guidelines.
  • Collaborate with experienced engineering team members, product engineers, and production to ensure successful designs.
  • Generate detailed 3D models of design along with supporting production drawings and bills of material.
  • Conduct product safety/risk assessments and other compliance-related evaluations.
  • Provide support to production personnel as needed with design questions and recommendations.
  • Troubleshoot design issues in support of aftermarket warranty and product enhancement efforts.
  • Develop and deploy standards and tools for design, costing, and general efficiency improvements.
  • Willingness and ability to quickly learn new software tools and techniques.
  • Proficient in Microsoft operating systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Proficient in AutoCad 2D with exposure to and understanding of 3D parametric design.
  • Preferred: Proficient in Autodesk Inventor (or similar 3D modelling software) and parametric modeling techniques.
  • Preferred: Understanding of finite element analysis methods and software.
  • Ability to travel internationally to the production facility in Ontario, Canada, and to domestic and international customer sites.
  • Strong willingness and curiosity to tackle new challenges and provide sound engineering-based solutions.
  • Develop professional and operational process expertise to provide improved assistance to internal and external customers.
  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field and stay up-to-date on any advances in the field by partaking in educational opportunities.
