This is a full-time position within the Mechanical Engineering group at Meta, located in Menlo Park, CA. The Mechanical Engineering group plays a crucial role in supporting all Data Center product teams, which include AI/ML servers, storage, networking, connectivity, and data centers. Each product team is tasked with building specific components of the infrastructure that connects people globally. Meta is committed to this mission through the Open Compute Project (OCP), aiming to enhance Internet connectivity for everyone. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of the world's most open and efficient connectivity platforms. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the specification, design, prototyping, and testing of devices and products tailored for AI/ML servers, storage, or network systems, specifically for use in communication devices and data centers. You will collaborate closely with hardware, thermal, software, supply chain, and external partner teams to ensure that project goals and timelines are met. Your role will involve validating product performance against requirements from various internal customers using design and simulation tools, performing part and assembly level tolerance analysis, and conducting motion and performance studies. You will be expected to quickly iterate through various design concepts, bringing them to life through rapid prototyping with the assistance of our prototyping lab. Additionally, you will create test plans, design test equipment, and execute testing procedures to verify design performance. Documentation and specifications suitable for prototyping, quoting, and production will also be part of your responsibilities. You will work with contract manufacturing partners throughout the design-for-manufacturing process and engineering verification stages necessary to transition products from prototype to production. Understanding different types of product packaging and their testing requirements will be essential, as will supporting our manufacturing partners by collaborating on-site with their overseas design and manufacturing teams.
