About The Position

Black & Veatch is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to support in the design of mechanical systems in water treatment and wastewater projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with various design engineering execution teams across the US and abroad, perform Mechanical System design for water/wastewater projects, perform engineering calculations to develop equipment and system performance parameters for the purpose of sizing equipment, coordinate with equipment manufacturers to select the most technically acceptable design solutions, follow company and industry design practices in development of designs, and develop engineering work products including Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs), Mechanical arrangement drawings, and Equipment, Piping, and Valve specifications. You will also review manufacturer's or contractor's submittals, data, reports, etc., for conformance with B&V criteria.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing or equivalent experience in engineering work
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience
  • Holds an active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries, and supports where necessary

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in developing detailed project drawings and technical specifications
  • Familiarity with equipment and systems used in water and wastewater treatment facilities including pumping systems, blowers, aeration control valves, compressed air systems for pneumatic actuators, large bubble mixing, anaerobic digestion, heating water boilers, heat exchangers, and steel piping systems
  • Knowledge of material selection and sizing of piping systems and equipment
  • Understanding of hydraulic principles related to water/wastewater facility design
