Arc is building 100% electric boats from the ground up, aiming to provide a better boating experience that is quicker, quieter, easier to maintain, and better for the environment. We are looking for a passionate individual to join our team in Los Angeles, where you will work closely with a lean, high-trust team. This full-time, on-site role involves a dynamic mix of responsibilities, including architecting mechanical, thermal, and fluid systems, hands-on prototyping, and interfacing with suppliers.

  • Architecting mechanical, thermal, and fluid systems on the vehicle
  • Requirements gathering, specifications, CAD design, hands-on prototyping, analysis (FEA, CFD, hand calculations), in-field validation, and production support
  • Using a combination of hand calculations and CAD to engineer parts
  • Building and testing prototypes
  • Interfacing with suppliers and contractors
  • Supporting the design of next generation products
  • 3-8 years of experience owning complete mechanical systems from initial design through production
  • Experience with CAD software packages such as NX or Solidworks
  • Experience with modeling software such as Matlab and Simulink
  • Hands-on project experience
  • Excellent grasp of the fundamentals of Mechanical, Thermal, and Fluids Engineering
  • Comfortable spending time on boats in the field to collect test data
  • Strong intuition for manufacturing methods
  • Familiarity with high performance electric vehicles, solar cars, Formula SAE, or similar
  • Knowledge of modeling software such as Matlab and Simulink
  • Firsthand experience owning or using water sports boats including wakeboarding, waterskiing, wakesurfing etc.
  • Exposure to sheet metal manufacturing, CNC machining, CAM, and shop tools
  • Prior experience in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Ability to articulate and defend engineering decisions
  • Strong time management skills
  • Experience with fluid system designs including pump sizing, fluid dynamics, and NX routings
  • Experience creating and detailing engineering drawings, with a solid understanding of GD&T
  • Base salary between $100,000 - $180,000 per year
