Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred), Mechatronics, or a related field from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience in the defense, aerospace, or automotive industry; military land vehicle experience highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in NX or Creo for 3D modeling and Teamcenter/Vis Mockup for PLM.
  • Working knowledge of ASME Y14.100 and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience in prototype or production build support.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
  • Ability to climb on/off and work around military vehicles.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% to other facilities or military installations.

Nice To Haves

  • Integration of shock/vibration isolation, radio racks, and personal safety guards.
  • Development of mechanical mechanisms and mounting of LRUs.
  • Experience supporting ground combat vehicle programs.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design and integrate shock/vibration LRU mounts, stowage systems, and mechanical components into military vehicles, ensuring compliance with human factors, safety, environmental, and mine blast requirements.
  • Work with suppliers to develop mechanical subsystems and components to meet performance targets.
  • Apply mechanics of materials, material selection, welding, and fabrication principles to design complex welded brackets and mounting provisions.
  • Decompose vehicle-level performance requirements to perform system analysis and select components such as sensors, cables, springs, pedals, and mechanisms.
  • Design fluid system custom components and perform tolerance stackups, drawing markups, and engineering source data.
  • Develop key characteristics, specifications, and perform supplier component selection.
  • Support prototyping and production builds, including technical troubleshooting, corrective actions, and redesign.
  • Create test plans, conduct system evaluations, and perform failure analysis.
  • Direct and review CAD model and drawing development (NX or Creo preferred).
  • Present technical material to functional and program leadership.
