As a Mechanical Engineer (Signaling), you will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of mechanical systems within complex signaling environments, such as trains and railway wayside infrastructure. This role requires a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical leadership, innovation, and the ability to manage multiple engineering projects with minimal supervision.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (Master’s preferred).
6-10 years of relevant experience in sheet metal, composites, machined parts, assemblies, etc.
Working knowledge of 3D modeling software – CATIA V5 experience preferred
Working knowledge of PLM software – SmarTeam or TeamCenter preferred
Able to work in fast-paced, collaborative environment
Self-motivated attitude and the ability to use initiative to maintain project timelines
Excellent problem-solving skills
Excellent technical writing skills

Nice To Haves

Master’s preferred
CATIA V5 experience preferred
SmarTeam or TeamCenter preferred

Responsibilities

Lead the mechanical design and development of signaling components and systems, ensuring alignment with project specifications and industry standards.
Writing and developing technical specifications
Design parts, assemblies and drawings using CAD
Cross-departmental collaboration in design feasibility and continuous improvement
Create designs according to company procedures, regulations and client standards
Review and release technical drawings and BOMs
Calculate factors like tolerance, dimensions, thermal and structural analysis
Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) at supplier facilities
Ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., AREMA, IEEE, ISO, MIL-STD) and regulatory requirements.
