Fleet Ballistic Missiles (FBM) is one of Lockheed Martin's best-in-class Lines of Businesses that prioritizes partnership, integrity and reliability. The Mechanical Controls group is an organization within FBM that is responsible for the design and production support of the systems that control the missile both before and after boost. This position is for a Senior Mechanical Engineer focused on propulsion hardware development in the Post Boost Control System (PBCS) IPT. In this role, you will support the development of a solid propellant gas generator through requirement maturation, integration, and testing. In this role, you will have numerous opportunities to represent the IPT with our Navy partner, LM leadership, and suppliers, with many opportunities for career development along the way.

Requirements

  • Experience with engineering lifecycle (examples: development, aging, or production)
  • Any combination of experience in: engineering project management, supplier management, technical evaluations
  • Experience in working with suppliers and external customers
  • Desire and ability to own technical challenges through solutions
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with FBM processes and products
  • Missile and/or aerospace related education or experience
  • Experience with engineering principles of solid propellant rocket motors or generators
  • Hardware experience including, design, analysis, assembly, integration, and test
  • Experience using EPDM Windchill, SAP, CREO, and design tools
  • Experience working with procurement and outside suppliers
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with adjacent fields (systems engineering, electronics, stress/thermal analysis, configuration management, production, test, etc)
  • Excellent verbal/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical audiences

  • Read, review, and demonstrate knowledge of controlled processes and procedures
  • Enhance cross discipline product development
  • Be the technical interface to FBM management, systems engineering, quality, and our Navy counterparts.
