We are a community of engineers looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious Mechanical Engineer to join our tight-knit group. Fleet Ballistic Missiles (FBM) is one of Lockheed Martin’s premier lines of businesses that prioritizes partnership, integrity, and reliability. This position is for an Propulsion Engineer that collaborates well in a team environment, has excellent communication skills, and is comfortable working both individually and as part of a team. In this role you will support the engineering team by performing preliminary and detailed level component and system design, development, and integration for flight as well as ground systems. Your duties will include responsibility for the design, manufacture, procurement and test for the propulsion system components and assemblies. Other duties may include: Support subsystem integration Assist on the conceptual development, requirements definition, and design of propulsion components Perform trade studies to select the appropriate design solution Develop product performance specifications, statements of work, and supplier data requirements for components Maintain engineering drawings, specifications, and technical analyses to support systems and components Provide requirements flow-down, verification, and maintain technical baseline at the suppliers Ability to work on a multi-disciplined team performing structural design trades, detailed design/analysis activity and performance and maintenance assessments of operational systems. Support dynamic test definitions, requirements development, test monitoring, data reduction, and comparison to analysis efforts. Provide user documentation and recommendations to data packages to support peer and customer reviews, present analysis data to engineering teams, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel at technical interchange meetings and design review.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar technical field; and/or combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of mechanical CAD modeling and drafting (Creo or equivalent)
  • Understanding of mechanical and propulsion engineering principals
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance; US citizenship required

  • Ability to perform Risk evaluation and assessment
  • Formal experience with analysis and documentation (written reports)
  • Exposure to complex systems thinking
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Familiarity with proposals and contracts
  • Hands on Hardware experience
  • User of CREO CAD software
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with adjacent fields
  • Knowledge of Requirement development and management
  • Excellent verbal/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical audiences
