About The Position

As a Mechanical Engineer at Tetra Tech, you will contribute to the design of mechanical systems for various facilities, including industrial, commercial, wastewater, and water facilities. The role involves working on system expansions, replacements, and new constructions, collaborating closely with project managers and mechanical leadership to develop design documents, engineering reports, calculations, and specifications. This position offers opportunities for professional growth and requires both independent and collaborative work with clients.

Requirements

  • 4-10 years in mechanical design, specifically related to design and construction documentation for mechanical, plumbing, and performance-based fire protection systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License is recommended but not required; must obtain within 12 months of hire date.
  • REVIT/BIM and AutoCAD experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with building codes, ASHRAE design manuals, and USGBC LEED requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of building mechanical equipment such as fans, chillers, cooling towers, and air handlers.
  • Experience with plumbing and/or performance fire-protection systems.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to mechanical systems design for industrial, commercial, wastewater, and water facilities.
  • Assist in the development of design documents including engineering reports, calculations, and analysis.
  • Perform HVAC load calculations, energy models, life cycle cost analysis, and ventilation calculations.
  • Size equipment and develop layouts for HVAC and plumbing systems.
  • Review and edit construction specifications using MasterSpec for applicable projects.
  • Participate in construction administration, including responding to contractor RFIs and reviewing shop drawings.
  • Conduct construction site field observations and prepare punch lists during various stages of construction.
