About The Position
The Mechanical Engineer will serve in the Optical-Mechanical Telescope Engineer Division at the United States Naval Observatory, Flagstaff Station (USNOFS). This role involves being a key member of the Instrumentation Research and Engineering Division, focusing on the maintenance, upgrade, and development of new and existing telescopes. The engineer will be responsible for the design, construction, and procurement of telescope systems to meet emergent requirements, utilizing various manufacturing techniques and collaborating with external manufacturers.
