About The Position

Woolpert is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic Buildings MEP team. This position would be aligned with our Coral Gables, FL office and would support hybrid or in-person working arrangements. This position will report to the Mechanical Engineering Team Leader and be primarily responsible for performing mechanical HVAC engineering technical work on various complex projects, mentoring staff, applying proficiency in designing, analyzing, and reviewing systems to ensure safety, sustainability, and compliance with industry standards. Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 7 years related experience
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Substantial experience designing in Autodesk Revit 3-D modeling software and directing the preparation of construction documents.
  • Must be able to read, analyze and interpret complex documents including scientific and technical journals.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for both internal and external relationships.
  • Must be able to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, and/or members of the business community.
  • Willing to travel to project sites or offices, as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with building HVAC system design for commercial, mixed-use, aviation, hospitality, and/or high-rise preferred
  • Experience designing sustainable building systems, including familiarity with LEED, Green Building Institute, or other sustainability credentialing.
  • Experience conducting and leading QAQC and coordination of design documents between disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and modify models, plans, details, and drawings of mechanical engineering systems and components according to established standards and modeling techniques.
  • Design mechanical systems including plant design, fuel piping, steam systems, boilers, cooling towers/chillers, geothermal, and other.
  • Perform energy modeling, load calculations, and LCCA analysis using modeling software and techniques
  • Interprets, defines, organizes, executes and coordinates engineering assignments.
  • Provide technical direction and support for multiple projects of considerable scope and complexity.
  • Responsible for coordinating the technical execution of large segments of an engineering program with extensive and diversified engineering requirements.
  • Applies or develops advanced theories, concepts, principles and processes in execution of quality deliverables that meet project/deliverable specifications.
  • Provides technical expertise and support in the project definition and planning phases.
  • Communicates new scientific methods, developments and practices through appropriate firm channels.
  • Develops and documents standard practices and coaches and mentors other team members in skill development areas.
  • Acts as technical expertise and representative of the firm at various functions, as needed.
  • Conducts training sessions for internal staff.
  • Participates in firm-wide quality initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
