This hands‑on role ensures the ongoing health of existing product lines by executing MOL activities that allow project and design engineering teams to remain focused on DTO (Design‑to‑Order) delivery. Responsibilities include maintaining engineering standards, resolving production issues, and driving continuous improvement, with scope and autonomy varying depending on experience level.

Requirements

  • Understanding of DTO/custom engineering environments (preferred).
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, tolerances, fasteners, alignment, and structural components.
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis tools and continuous improvement methodologies (CI, Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Experience with medium‑voltage switchgear or power industry equipment (preferred).
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD; FEA exposure/experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of UL, CSA, and NEMA standards (UL 891 / UL 1558).
  • BSME or equivalent required for all levels.
  • Engineer I: 0–2 years experience in mechanical design, MOL, DTO, or relevant internship.
  • Engineer II: 1–3 years of experience in mechanical design, MOL, or DTO engineering.
  • Engineer III: 3–7 years of experience leading MOL or mechanical design projects.
  • EIT certification or progression toward PE licensure preferred across all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical and assembly issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support or lead MOL engineering projects with complexity appropriate to experience level.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, manufacturing engineering, and electrical engineering teams to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Act as a technical resource for field issues, disruptions, and quality concerns.
