Mechanical Engineering Interns at Microsoft design and manufacture some of the most popular devices in the world for personal computing and cloud hardware. We have internships in a wide range of areas including system integration, precision design, industrial design, user experience, heat transfer, mechanisms, manufacturing, and product testing.   • Assists in the creation of robust, scalable, secure, and extensible designs and verification plans for the hardware engineering aspects of a well-defined feature or product extension.
  • Assists in the development of basic prototype hardware components for use in development, testing, or validation of new product features.
  • Assists in evaluating prototypes for the purpose of innovating, optimizing and maturing designs.
  • Collaborates and assists in project implementation.
  • Documents essential details and follows established procedures.
  • Conceptualizes and designs mechanical parts using 3D CAD Software.
  • Develop innovative hardware and leading-edge technologies while collaborating with multiple disciplines.
  • Currently pursuing a Masters or Doctorates Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Candidate must be enrolled in a full time Masters or Doctorates program in area relevant for the role during the academic term immediately before their internship.
  • Must have at least one additional quarter/semester of school remaining following the completion of the internship.
