About The Position

We are seeking a mechanical engineering student to join instrument R&D team in a 3 month internship. The R&D team is chartered to design and develop various functional instruments to meet the organization’s daily operation needs. The R&D activities focus on rapid system prototyping and long-term technology development and application.

Requirements

• SolidWorks proficiency.
• Strong communication and documentation skills, self-motivated with good verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Work with senior engineers to get job done in a fast paced and demanding working environment.
• This position requires onsite attendance.
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (required)
• Completed at least sophomore year (preferred)

Nice To Haves

• Prior work experience with Upchain or other PDM software is a plus.
• Prior work experience in designing instruments and mechanical products is a plus.
• Prior academic or internship experience in mechanical design, prototyping, or engineering projects is a plus

Responsibilities

• Assist senior mechanical engineers to transfer existing cad models to our PDM software Upchain
• Assist conceptual and prototype designs using appropriate methodologies and interact with other team members to develop design requirements and create product specifications.
• Develop standard components database on Upchain using SolidWorks
• Design and document components and assemblies for instruments and accessories using SolidWorks
• Create part numbers and proper manufacturing drawings.
• Develop processes to assemble components, draft product assembly instructions, document assembly procedures for transfer to manufacturing.
