About The Position

We are seeking a motivated Student Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team and apply academic theory to high-stakes, real-world engineering environments. Working alongside experienced professionals, you will gain exposure to the full mechanical lifecycle—from initial CAD design and cross-functional analysis to prototyping and performance testing. By the end of this internship, you will have developed a professional portfolio of technical drawings and specifications, gained hands-on experience in rapid prototyping, and mastered the ability to optimize mechanical designs for both manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Academic Foundation: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering, with at least two years of study remaining.
  • Principles & Concepts: A strong academic background in core mechanical engineering principles and a basic understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Technical Aptitude: Previous experience with CAD software is preferred; must be able to translate concepts into detailed technical drawings.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving capabilities with a proactive and structured approach to addressing engineering challenges.
  • Collaborative Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work successfully in a team-oriented environment.
  • Growth Mindset: An eagerness to learn, high adaptability, and a genuine passion for the field of mechanical engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Execute Design & Analysis by assisting in the development and refinement of mechanical systems using CAD software, with a focus on optimizing for performance and cost.
  • Lead Prototyping & Testing initiatives, including the creation of physical models and conducting rigorous tests to evaluate component reliability and functionality.
  • Maintain Engineering Documentation by contributing to technical drawings, detailed specifications, and comprehensive reports throughout the development process.
  • Engage in Cross-Functional Collaboration, working closely with electrical and software engineering teams to achieve integrated project goals.
  • Support Research & Development by staying informed on emerging technologies and industry best practices to enhance LVT’s technological edge.
  • Apply Proactive Problem Solving to troubleshoot mechanical issues and propose innovative engineering solutions for complex challenges.
  • Collaborate on Multi-Disciplinary Projects, ensuring mechanical designs seamlessly integrate with the broader LVT platform and hardware ecosystem.
