Position Overview: Novelis in Davenport, IA has an opportunity to participate in our on-site summer 2026 internship. The team is seeking a Mechanical Engineering intern that can join the team for approximately 12 weeks. The person in this role will have the opportunity to participate in meaningful work and gain hands on industry experience. The intern will report to the Associate EMRA Leader and will be gain experience Mechanical Engineering.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in an accredited 4-year University
  • Must obtain the classification Junior or Senior.
  • interested in gaining hands-on industry experience prior to graduation
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills which are essential for interacting with all levels of the organization
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer students majoring in degree Mechanical Engineer or related fields Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Reliability Engineering.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Works well in a team-based environment.
  • Familiar with MS Office and AutoCAD products.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.

Responsibilities

  • Learn about industrial machinery, mechanical power transmission systems, and pumping systems.
  • Provide support for various Mechanical or Reliability Engineering Projects.
  • Perform Engineering drawing modifications.
  • Troubleshoot a variety of industrial manufacturing equipment including aluminum rolling lines, mobile equipment, and furnaces.
  • Work under the supervision of staff engineers to implement latest reliability and maintenance standards to equipment.
