About The Position

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks professional, innovative, and detail-oriented individuals for Mechanical Engineering Internships. The ideal candidate for these positions will be able to work part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer. A typical day as a Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Intern might include the following: Supporting functional/qualification test plans, testing, and test reports. Running tolerance, return on investment (ROI), thermal, and structural analysis. Designing plastic, machined, sheet meal, and die cast parts Updating SolidWorks models and drawings Data entry of technical information into company databases (MS Access, Lotus Notes, SolidWorks, etc.) Following manufacturing development and quality assurance procedures. Embracing the mindset: Understand. Create. Simplify. Applying SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.

Requirements

  • You are a current student pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or equivalent degree
  • You have the ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
  • You are able to conduct defined testing procedures
  • You have SolidWorks experience (or equivalent CAD software)
  • You have working knowledge of Microsoft Office or equivalent applications
  • You have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
  • You have the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Pay Range Data ($19.50 - $32.50 per hour) - Our intern pay is determined based on the internship role (the work you would be doing) and your year in school (when you plan to graduate). Talk to your recruiter if you are curious about the rate for your year in school.
