About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our dynamic engineering team for the Summer of 2026. This internship offers a unique opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects, work alongside experienced engineers, and gain invaluable industry experience in the aerospace and defense sector. The ideal candidate has a basic understanding of mechanical and/or electro-mechanical disciplines and is eager to learn in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The internship will take place in the summer of 2026 with flexibility for a May or June start time.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • A basic understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles.
  • Basic proficiency with 3D CAD software.
  • Enjoy hands-on mechanical work and a willingness to work in both an office and R&D lab environment.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and an inquisitive nature.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • The ability to obtain a future Security Clearance is required for the role. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design, development, and analysis of mechanical components and systems for aerospace applications, including high-energy pulsed power systems, large ground-based satellite antennas, military aircraft antennas, and/or space batteries systems.
  • Create and modify 3D CAD models and generate technical drawings in accordance with industry drafting standards.
  • Participate in prototype fabrication, assembly, and testing.
  • Perform laboratory activities including test planning, execution, data acquisition, and analysis.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations (structural and thermal analysis) using hand-calcs and/or simulation tools to support design efforts.
  • Collaborate with other functional teams (electrical, physics, manufacturing) on design, research, and development projects.
  • Document design progress, test results, and engineering processes through technical reports and presentations.
  • In-Office Work Required.
