About The Position

Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies. We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems. Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). This position is located at our Milan Ohio facility. This internship is for Summer 2026.

Requirements

  • The successful applicant is required to be enrolled in an ABET-accredited university and pursuing a BS or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering or a sufficiently-relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Candidates must have completed a minimum of two (2) semesters of course work prior to the start of work.
  • Candidates must have successfully completed a minimum of one semester prior to application to this position.
  • Candidates must have a minimum availability of three (3) months.

Nice To Haves

  • Existing CAD and/or technical drawing skills will be a strength in the candidate selection.
  • Experience with Creo, Solidworks or Siemens NX is especially relevant.

Responsibilities

  • Apply creative analytical and practical Mechanical Engineering knowledge (consistent with a pre-graduate level of skill) to tasks of varying complexity within the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
  • Use a self-sufficient and hands-on approach to complete assigned tasks.
  • Interface with technical and non-technical personnel within the organization.
  • Seek and obtain experience in multiple aspects of the engineering profession.
  • Support Engineering and Technical Staff in the performance of their day-to-day tasks and projects. The nature of these tasks will vary widely.
  • Perform non-technical tasks on as-needed (but limited) basis to support incidental business needs. Examples may include clerical, administrative or similar work
  • Use SLI AS9100, ISO-9001 and CMMI ML2 business processes as required in the performance of daily duties.
  • The student will be assigned to a supervisor who will provide a performance evaluation at the completion of the work session. This supervisor will be their point-of-contact on a daily basis, and will determine all task assignments.
